Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master the talented storyteller has maintained audience suspense with rich lore, a colorful mix of personalities, and a gripping narrative featuring divine entities, evil spirits, and sinister influences growing in power within Dol-Makjar.
Heads-up: Spoilers for the third episode of the new season follow below.
The Warrior Group Unveiled
The latest chapter finished on a major cliffhanger and introduced the first table of heroes who will branch out from the central cast to begin their own adventure, separate from the other two tables.
The combat-focused team consists of Teor Pridesire (portrayed by Travis), the agile character (Laura Bailey), the strong-willed figure (the cast member), the cleric (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan Vale (the actor).
Dividing the Cast
With 13 cast members, it was clear from the beginning that having everyone at a single group would be impossible.
That’s why, the opening chapters of Campaign 4 serve as an Overture, weaving together the characters’ stories before splitting into three smaller tables: Soldiers, Schemers, and Explorers.
What Defines the Soldiers Table
According to the Dungeon Master, the Soldiers table is for participants who prefer a traditionally charged combat and conflict-driven story mode where non-violent answers are rare.
At first glance, characters like the reluctant priest Wicander Halovar might look unsuited, but the events of the latest installment demonstrate why these particular heroes are best suited for the Soldiers table.
Why They Must Go
For one thing, the party has a clear idea where to proceed after a violent first encounter with the enemy group.
A former ally of Thjazi—whose passing kicked off the narrative’s action—used The Crow Keepers for his selfish purposes, invading the hidden lair, striking Thimble, and swiping all the enchanted items to auction.
The traitor then settled his liabilities and fled to a Halovar stronghouse in Gormalay, Timmony, beyond Dol-Makjar, with Teor’s brother pursuing him.
Individual Reasons
Moreover, each member has a individual motive to leave the city the metropolitan area:
- The agile hero, as Thjazi’s partner and closest confidant, desires revenge.
- The knowledgeable figure is familiar with the northern area and advises that it is a dangerous place.
- The strong character and Wicander, having resisted his house’s orders to kill the target and instead freed him, have no safe haven.
- However, their reputation as prominent individuals in House Halovar could enable the party access places they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Furthermore, The grateful character vowed a life debt to Wicander for his rescue and will now go with him everywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
In addition, all of them are hunted by the powers that rule Dol-Makjar for a variety of reasons, making staying in the city no longer safe:
- The agile adventurer and The hero are notorious outlaws.
- The warrior and The healer turned against the influential house and the army of fiends they are partnered with.
- Teor is marked for death by the clan.
This means them few options but to travel to Timmony in search of Casimir.
What’s Next?
From the latest episode’s Cooldown, we find out that the warrior group will not appear the following episode, leaving the remaining eight players to round up the Questers and Strategists tables.
Fans can anticipate discovering which characters will be where in the season’s concluding setup installment, released on October 24.
